You're Invited

Your wedding invitation is one of the most important details of your wedding as this gesture formally introduces your guest into the first look of your big day. Perception is everything and your invi gives a peek into how casual or formal of an affair you are about to host. The design, color, caligraphy, paper choice and invitation style subconsciously influence your guests' opinion of your wedding. If you are about to throw the most spectacular formal event of the year, then your invitation must reflect this. On the other hand if you're having a more casual, easy going day, an invitation equally as relaxed would be a good fit.

With the help of a close friend, I chose the option of issuing e-invitations to my wedding guests, primarily because most of our invitees were either out of state, or in my home country.

With all that good stuff said, this is the 21st century and like everything else the invitation must also reflect the couple's taste as well as their wedding style. However, tradition does hold true to some things and a few general rules to consider are useful. As mentioned earlier a formal wedding does require a formal invitation where correct font style choice is imperative with careful paper consideration, layout and format of wording.

For less formal weddings a couple can be less restrictive and have a little more fun with color options, font styles, paper, design and theme.

Here are few printing and paper options for your invitation style to consider for your day.

Printing Styles :-
• Letterpress
• Laser Cut
• Foil Stamping
• Thermography Style
• Engraving
• Embossing
• Digital Printed
• Hand Made
• Paper less post (digitally done but not printed)

Paper Types:-
• Linen
• Cotton
• Card Stock
• Recycled Paper
• Vellum

Hopefully this article helps you make a more firm decision on the type of invitation you and your husband to be would like!

  1. Invitations are one area where you can really go over budget if you're not careful, simply because of how expensive formal invites can be! We opted for the e-invite like you and also delivered some DIY handmade ones (with the help of talented and crafty friends) to the older folks without email addresses.
