Rustic Wedding or Elegant Formal Affair?
Deciding on your wedding style/theme really defines and helps the majority of elements come together in your wedding. Knowing whether you want a traditional, rustic , vintage or cocktail style, really sets the tone for your entire layout.
So is your wedding indoor or outdoor? Does the time of year of your wedding permit for a beautiful and issue free outdoor wedding? That gorgeous garden that you've been dreaming of hosting your wedding at, may not work during a particular season or for that black tie formal soirée.
As mentioned earlier, just as the venue and photographer go hand in hand, so does your catering option and wedding style. Doing the whole five course meal affair may not work for the casual, rustic, mason jar set up. Remember your wedding style is not about what's trending but rather the personal style of a couple. Think about your hobbies and personal interests that connect both of you, and how those things can tastefully translate into your wedding theme and style. Are you a beach loving couple? A carnival couple? Simple, preppy or outdoor and adventurous?
Your wedding decor can also be a combination of various styles that compliment each other such as rustic and garden theme, vintage and romantic, DIY and bohemian or traditional with a little contemporary. Remember ladies, Pinterest is your best friend for inspiration! Check out my inspo pic, and actual execution below. The sooner you can decide on a style is the sooner you can get to the fun stuff like your colour palette. Stick to colors that compliment your style. Your wedding is a timeless experience to cherish, so skip the neons and over the top colors and keep it simple and elegant.
Setting your style allows you to narrow down your layout and decor. Would you have lighting that is bold and dramatic or soft and romantic? Are your opting for flowers or no flowers, large focal centerpieces or small mixed arrangements? Also your linen, dinnerware, seating style of round tables or banquet style are all choices centered around your theme and style.
It can be a little overwhelming, but being clear on your theme is the best place to start.

Rustic is always so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing that your wedding surpassed your Pinterest inspo by a mile! Really gorgeous details and decor. Rustic is always a winner for me especially because it lends itself to a more relaxed vibe than the more formal affairs.
ReplyDeleteThis is great as I believe alot of people tend to go with what is trending as their wedding style and not consider the personalities of the both persons getting married. Rustic is a great choice
