Natural Beauty
Now ladies, this is an area that I highly recommend you not attempt to DIY. This day is beyond special, monumental and important. As great as your makeup skills may be, allow yourself to be pampered and have your mind at ease hours before you say 'I do' while someone else puts the finishing touches on your smile.
I can't stress enough, the fact that you will have your pictures FOR LIFE. You do no want to be looking like an extra in Moulin Rouge, or a bare-faced, minimal version of yourself. Professional makeup should never be overdone and a good "face beat" by the right artist will never be a regret. The look you should try to achieve is an enhanced, beautiful, stunning and natural finish of yourself. You may be cutting some cost skipping the professional, but your look may not get you through the vigor of the entire day.
Even if you are not the type of woman who wears a lot of makeup, explore the option of a professional with a subtle and natural aesthetic. You may want to overlook the artist whose page is swarmed with carnivalesque, avant garde looks. Also, choose an artist who is able to work with a variety of skin tones, facial features and face shapes. Such artists know how to enhance each person's unique beauty.
Set up a trial run with your makeup artist. You absolutely do not want to be disappointed, upset or angry with the finished product of your makeup on such a memorable day. Have your makeup artist do a trial wedding look on you so you can be certain and more comfortable with their technique. This also gives you a chance to indicate any additions, variations or exclusions from the look they have done. The artist will be able to properly assess your skin and face in advance to determine the right shades for you regarding eye shadow, foundation, highlighter and lipstick. Trials allow the artist to make notes of each product used and time done to achieve the look, so the exact look is executed on the day, as well as the time frame being factored in to get it done. Knowing how long your makeup will take becomes very useful to your photographer and wedding co-ordinator in ensuring that remaining on schedule on the big day is realized.
If you are familiar with great makeup artists, pick one you that you may have worked with before, that you are comfortable with, or one that has been very highly recommended by someone who's makeup style you trust and admire. Ladies, getting your makeup professionally done is worth every penny and should be adequately considered into your budget.

Love this post!
ReplyDeleteThis is all very true, especially about makeup trials! No need to get surprised on the day when you see that the makeup artist's smokey eye makes you look like a raccoon! Makeup and hair are just as important as your dress, honestly!
ReplyDeleteI love natural makeup on brides but I definitely suggest a professional makeup artist to play around with different looks that suits you before the big day. Have fun with makeup but as you said don't look extra like you in Moulin Rouge! Lol
